Launch A Program, Folder, Or File With A Shortcut Key
If you frequently work with a program, a specific folder or a file you can launch it with a keyboard shortcut that you made. These are called Hotkeys. Hotkeys in Windows are applied to shortcuts that you have created.
TIP: First find the Program, Folder or File you want to use. Right click on it and from the menu create a shortcut to the desktop or wherever you can find it. Next right click on the shortcut icon and select properties. On the dialog window that appears find the shortcut key box, it will probably have “None” typed in it. Click in the box next to “None” and pick a keyboard letter and strike it. Ctl+Alt+the key you struck will replace “None”. Click OK. You have now created a keyboard shortcut to the program, folder, or file that you selected.
To open the program, folder, or file simply hold down the Ctl and Alt keys together and strike the hotkey you selected.
NOTE: To remove the Hotkey, right click on the shortcut icon, select Properties. Find the Shortcut key box, highlight and delete the text. “None” will reappear and the shortcut will no longer work.
