Capture Part Of The Screen With The Snipping Tool
You can capture the current screen image by pressing the Print Screen key and then opening a graphics program and run the paste command. This will get you the image on the screen but what if you only want part of that image? Until Vista the only way you could do it was by cropping the image.
TIP: Go to the Orb or Start button. When the start menu appears, start typing in Snipping Tool. As you start to type you will see it at the top of the start menu, click on it to open the Snipping Tool. Your screen will dim out and a floating tool bar will appear. Click and drag a box around the item you want to capture and then click outside the box. A new window will appear displaying the snip. You can now send the snip as an e-mail attachment or save it as a jpeg or html file. Once it is saved you can use it as you would any other graphic file.
NOTE: You cannot print the snip unless you save it first. You can annotate the snip by clicking on the tools selecting the pen, next select a color and write your message. You can highlight the text by dragging the highlighter over it or you can remove it by using the eraser.
